I started programming for iOS in September 2018, when I joined the Apple. The iPhone SE 2 can help balance the equation of revenue and market share by offering a low-priced gateway into Apple’s world of smartphones. In addition to publishing 2 apps to the App Store, I was awarded a WWDC 2019. Market share is approaching single figures, and relying on high-end handsets with high margins may be delivering financial success… but it doesn’t provide for growth or entry into new markets. The iPhone X has not delivered the super-cycle it promised and sales are flat to slightly down year-on-year. Was this year’s WWDC the time to disrupt the iPhone rhythm? In my opinion yes.īut the updated iPhone SE is on its way, and its non-appearance at WWDC tells us a lot about the handset. I take on board that Apple has not launched an iPhone at WWDC since the iPhone 4, but ‘thinking different’ is part of Apple’s history. That would have been at the WWDC keynote today. The UKs best iOS Development Conference a.k.a iOSDevUK 8 was held on 3rd to 6th. The next best date would be one when you have the world’s attention, when you have everyone geared up for news, and when you have the time to explaining the thinking behind decisions as well as offering the handset some clear air to build up sales. Apples WWDC conference is bringing some great features for developers. Of course, I may be wrong, but it just doesn't quite make sense to me.Diluting the marketing message is not something that Apple is normally keen on, so this feels an awkward date. Or maybe the iPad Pro won't lose the headphone socket after all, in which case regular 3.5mm jack headphones will accompany a tablet with a USB-C connector. Perhaps the new 18W adapter, which Kuo says will come with the iPad Pro, will have a USB-C socket on it. I honestly don't think you can have it both ways. It could do, but is it really going to pack an iPad Pro box with headphones which connect through USB-C, while the iPhone comes bundled with headphones boasting a Lightning connector? Two critical bugs after its launch last September, both fixed within 10 days, put user credentials. Why? Because Apple has never promoted audio through USB-C. MacOS High Sierra, announced at last year's WWDC, saw more than its share of alarming incidents. ![]() I was doubtful of this, to be honest, but if it is true, then USB-C seems incredibly unlikely. It'll have Face ID rather than the current Touch ID, as previously suggested.īut the big news is that Kuo thinks it will replace the Lightning connector with USB-C.Īlthough the iPad Pro in recent years has been seen as increasingly a MacBook substitute (and those MacBooks use USB-C, right?) there have also been previous rumors saying the next iPad Pro would lose the headphone jack. ![]() Kuo has interesting thoughts about what it will be like: Apple CEO Tim Cook speaks during the 2018 Apple Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) at the San Jose Convention Center on Jin San Jose, California. It's not certain that the next tablet will be announced tomorrow, after all, the latest entry-level iPad had an event all to itself earlier in the year, but my guess is that it will make the keynote. There have been plenty of rumors and leaks about the next iPad Pro. Apples annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is taking place on 4 June this year, and its one of the Cupertino What to Expect at Apples WWDC 2018 Event - Lowyat. Apple iPad Pro 10.5in and 12.9in current versions.
